Registration open for indoor soccer camp in Pascagoula

If you can’t stand the summer heat, get off the soccer field and play indoors instead! Thanks to the City of Pascagoula and Coach Neil Scott, now kids have that option starting Monday. The annual soccer camp is switching up the goal this year after coronavirus forced most of their camps to cancel. Now their one and only camp this summer is moving indoors to the Pascagoula Rec Center. To help keep social distance between players, kids will be broken up into small groups of about seven or eight and work with separate coaches including special guest and coast celebrity Kaylee Foster. Coach Scott says it is all about getting kids active again after the cancellation of sports and says indoor soccer has many benefits beyond just avoiding the Mississippi heat. “Indoor soccer is something that speeds up the game automatically for little kids. So, it forces them to play a little bit faster than they’re comfortable playing and that’s something that transitions to the grass game and helps speed up their play there as well.” Registration is now open on the City of Pascagoula’s website for boys and girls ages seven to 16. The two-day camp starts Monday, June 29th and wraps up Tuesday. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day for $50 a camper. All skill levels are encouraged to attend.
