Honoring our veterans at Centennial Plaza

A sea of red, white, and blue at Centennial Plaza today and patriotism filled the air as the Gulfport Cruisin’ venue dedicated this day to honor our veterans. There were plenty of picture-perfect moments at Cruise Central Tuesday. Those from near and far seemed revved up to meet celebrity Cristy Lee, co-host of ‘All Girls Garage,’ including Diamondhead resident Clark Matthews. "I've got my Cruisin' poster, plus a smaller poster she gives away." (What are you going to do with that?) Hang it on the wall." But it was veterans like Clark Matthews, who served in the U.S. Navy, who were the guests of honor at this event, a cause close to Lee’s heart. "Anybody who serves our country-it's very patriotic. It means a lot to me personally, and anything I can do to give back to anyone who served, formerly served or is serving." "I think it's a great thing, and it should be done every year, I believe." Even with the enhanced health and safety measures, and the uncertainty in the Tropics, everyone at Centennial Plaza on Tuesday seemed to be having a good time and enjoying the weather, at least for now. "Everybody keeps their mask on, does their social distancing, having a lot of fun. That's what you've got to look forward to." "This is my fifth year back at this event. I just keep coming back because I just keep on having so much darn fun here. It's great to be back. Honestly, this year's been kind of crazy to say the least. I think that's an understatement. It's nice to be back at a car show, an event, immersed with other car people. The weather is just so great here right now, and it's just so wonderful to see so many familiar faces."
